There are many things to prepare before coming to your first event.
First you need to decide if you are going to be a player character (PC) or a non-player character (NPC) for the event.
A PC is a character of your own creation, that you use experience points to build into a style that you feel comfortable playing. A PC is something you invest time and effort into making, including a backstory and costuming. On your PC you can go on adventures, take place in magic spells, receive loot and interact with all the other players.
A NPC is a player that signs on to be the towns people, merchants and monsters for the weekend. The plot team for the weekend will direct the NPCs on how the event will run and what monsters and roles the NPCs will be for the weekend. All costuming and weapons needed for a NPC is provided, all the NPC needs to do is show up!
Check out the rules section to get an idea on how to build a character. You can always check out the Facebook page as well and ask questions on there, most of our community will respond quickly with answers to any questions you might have, or you can email us directly at lorelarp@gmail.com.
You can find a list of events at our calendar page.
Our event's begin with a check-in time of 6:30 p.m. Friday evening, with our latest check-out time being Sunday morning at noon.
At most of our events there are cabins located on site, which are first come first serve. If there is room in the cabin we will most likely find other players or NPC's to fill it to ensure that all attendees have a place to sleep. Some of our camps are a bit more rustic than others and require players to bring tents. Tent camping is also welcome at all camps that we use.
There are many things to prepare and bring for the weekend.
1. NPC clothes: usually a black pair of pants (scrubs or sweats work) and a black t-shirt with no logos or designs on them is the best to have. A pair of boots is good too, avoid steel toe your toes will thank you for it. Bring socks, many, many socks. You can use personal costuming for some roles but you should never wear a costume that identifies you as one of your Player Characters. Also…more socks!
2. As a player you want to bring a costume, something that people can identify you as a player and not a monster or an NPC. Having layers will make a costume more detailed, make sure to bring pouches to store loot in, or have pants with pockets.
3. Sleeping equipment: A sleeping bag, pillows and blankets are a definite bring.
4. Change of clothes: after a day of running around you get sweaty and wet and it is good to change out of clothes, especially to sleep in.
5. Toiletries: Deodorant, tooth paste, toothbrush are important to bring, you will be working up a sweat, breathing and eating food; bringing supplies to make yourself smell decent is always respectful to those around you.
6. Snacks / Drinks: It’s always good to have your own supply of snacks and drinks for the events. Water is typically provided and most people who do have stuff to share, but it’s always good to bring your own to enjoy. If you do bring stuff, try not to take into game with original wrappers on it as it does take away from the in-game atmosphere.
7. Even when you think you have packed enough, BRING MORE SOCKS!
Below are a few documents that have been prepared by our staff to provide links to costuming and accessories, and a make-up guide for applying and buying.
